Every year, the Indy500 tries to fill a field of 33. This is more than what are in the year-long IndyCar series. So previous versions of any scanning list will be lacking the new drivers. This year, there are 34 cars on the official spotter guide. That means there will be bumping during qualifications, and someone isn’t going to be in the race!

Here are the updates for your scanner- (including primary and backup frequencies)

  • Helio Castroneves – 06 – 460.3375(p) | 456.7625(b)
  • Kyle Larson – 17 – 456.1375(p) | 459.7750(b)
  • Ryan Hunter-Reay – 23 – 453.3750(p) | 458.3750(b)
  • Jack Harvey – 24 – 461.0125(p) | 466.0125(b)
  • Ed Carpenter – 33 – 467.7125(p) | 465.0375(b)
  • Takuma Sato – 75 – 460.4250(p) | 457.1750(b)
  • Marco Andretti – 98 – 464.1375(p) | 463.3500(b)

Some notes:

The newly provided frequencies come from the spotter guide. They do not include CTCSS or DCS squelch codes. So for now, those are left blank, and my Bearcat config file will be set to “SEARCH” — which should provide the tone the first time the team transmits and your scanner picks it up. You can then program it in, to avoid other random transmissions from getting through. Please also let me know if you find squelch codes for these, or if others have changed!

Helio Castroneves is #06. But Nolan Siegel is already #6. So if you end up using one of my frequency files, I have put Helio on channel 99.

Get all the frequencies and download config files the Bearcat BC125AT, or for Baofeng, Tidradio, and other Ham radios using the CSV file.

You can easily send us your notes via the email form below or drop us a direct message through our Facebook page. Every contribution helps make the scanner guide more accurate, more fun, and more valuable for everyone attending the Greatest Spectacle in Racing.

Thanks in advance for your help—and happy scanning!
